Strategies for validation, benchmarking and quality assurance in radiation oncology are of particular interest and include:
- Automatic extraction of landmarks from images for a patient-specific validation of rigid and non-rigid image registration. The Scale Invariant Feature Transform (SIFT) algorithm is included in the open-source platform plastimatch
- On-going implementation of a digital 4D CT/MRI anthropomorphic phantom (CoMBAT phantom) for MRI-guidance
- On-going development of computational phantoms with scalable anatomy, moving organs and patient-specific pathological structures
